Week3 Composite

This weeks task showing a composite frame, bondek floor supported by the main body structure and additional steel columns to the outside. Simple construction with a suspended ceiling.

I have uploaded these pictures as the show how complex and refined a portal frame can become. Consisting of 14 portals at 12800mm ctrs it is a great to see the level that a portal frame can be taken to.

I have chosen this building as Enric Miralles in my opinion creates beautiful building out of structures. He exposes the colmns and beams making them an organic architecture.

Portal Frame Detail

This is my section through a portal frame, I came to this conclusion from notes in class and looking through a variety of photos. In the photos from last week it shows the connection between base plate and concrete pad below slab level.
